The Denture Clinic in Dudley has a highly motivated team that prides itself in exceeding patients'
expectations. It is headed by Steven Burchell DipCDT RCS(Eng) whose 28-year career in all disciplines
of dental technology provides a trustworthy platform for his clinical specialism in prosthetics.
**After working as a dental technician – his apprenticeship was with one of the most
prestigious dental laboratories in the UK – he completed his training in a busy commercial laboratory.
**He then honed his skills working alongside a dentist in an ideal surgery-site union.
This clinical environment provided the catalyst for him to research how to best deliver the kind of quality prosthetic
treatment denture wearers deserve.
**Aware of a huge UK skills dearth in this arena, Steven enrolled on a three-and-a-half
year training course with the George Brown College in Toronto.
|
It was the only course available which would eventually enable
him to carry out his own patient consultations. Steven graduated with honours and embarked
on a further year's study under the auspices of The Royal College of Surgeons.
**Steven remains committed to a "listen, look and learn" philosophy in dealing
with his patients. Denture wearers, he believes, are one of the most overlooked people groups in dentistry and often
need more time investment than other patients.
**Denture provision, he admits, is time-consuming and occasionally can present
monumental challenges. But the greatest reward of his team’s intelligent analysis and
pursuit of excellence is the untold number of transformations – not only in providing
functional, natural-looking false teeth and implant dentures – but
regularly being privileged to play a small part of a complete
life-changing process for the good. |

**The senior dental technician said he embraced "the diverse and challenging" work at the clinic.
**In his spare time, Peter is a church youth worker, lay preacher and has recently completed an advanced course in sports massage. |

Gemma Rogers
is a dental technician currently studying dentistry nursing.
She joined the clinic in 2010. A graduate of Birmingham's Matthew Boulton Dental Technology College, she sees her ability to offer two dental disciplines as central to the Dudley Denture Clinic's development plans.
**She said: "I am wholly committed to a dental career and currently enjoying studying dental nursing as a way of enhancing my skills."
**Gemma enjoys working out at the gym and running with her pet dog, Frankie, in her leisure time. |

Jacqueline Burchell, administrator, ensures the business runs smoothly.
**She brings a lifetime's public sector experience to the practice, working for the Civil Service before adding her skills to the clinic's team. Currently she is helping to oversee a major redevelopment of the Dudley premises.
**"Our on-going development of the North Street site will ultimately offer patients greater clinical in-house choice. The plans are ambitious while being hugely practical and most of all will benefit our patients," she said. Jacqueline is married to Steven. |
